How did you mount your radions?

reefsahoy

I can see thru you!
I just got a radion and would like to see some of your ideas on mounting them over your tank. I would like to stay away from mounting from the ceiling.

Thx

There is a thread on the Ecotech forum that may give you some ideas.

This is what I use:

^yep, total cost $12. Went to home depo. Bent 1/2 inch conduit at store and bought the conduit so i didnt buy tool, ha. Got aluminum there. From there all you need is a hack saw and a couple of conduit clips. Whe i attach to the base i made it so i can adjust the height of light and the light can swivel from over the tank so i can access the tank without the light being in the way!

I used the conduit idea to hang my T5's.
I asked the guy in the electrical department to bend the conduit for me.
He didn't mind and I didn't have to buy the $80 tool.

I'm definitely hanging mine that may, how strong of conduit did you use, also where did you get the aluminum cut

^1/2"conduit, aluminum from home depo or lowes in hardware section. I bought 3 foot piece and hack saw. May paint mine black. Still on fence with that tho cause it does look nice in aluminum color.

This is what the entire setup looks like. I also added the reefkeeper to the top of light by cutting plexiglass, bending it and mounting it by screws. Wanted to keep it above water line so it can't get wet.

Top view. I had a different fixture before i got the radion, thats why you see exsisting screw holes. You cant see them on unless you take a top look. You'd have to be 7 foot tall to see holes and i'm no where near 7 foot!

Last pic to show you how it swivel from the top giving alot of access to aquarium without losing height to waterline. It can swivel either left or right. If the wall wasnt behind the tank it would swivel 360 degrees.
