I have an opportunity to buy a "pre-owned" LTA from another reefer. It's been in captivity in several years and is apparently doing well. It would be going into a 50G species tank with an Aquaclear 500 (no sump or fuge, as it's a converted FW tank that has been up about 7 months). I'd have to buy a HOB skimmer. I have LED lighting (EcoRay 60) that is bright enough to maintain BTAs and acros in my other tank. I would keep it with a pair of clownfish (probably pink skunks) once it was settled in.
Do I sound like a good candidate to keep an LTA? I've been keeping BTAs successfully for about 6 months (not that 6 months is more than a blip in anemone time). How difficult is a well-established LTA to take care of, compared to BTAs? I'd love to keep another clownfish-hosting anemone, but I don't want to pull the trigger if I don't have the right system or enough experience. Thanks!
