How do corals spread?

New to coral... Just curious, when LPS or other soft corals and Zoas spread, how do they spread and how do they attach themselves? What is their foundation? Having just recently purchased some of these LPS and softer corals, I have only seen them as they come from the LFS attached to a small plug or piece of rock.... when they spread, can they be moved around?

Softies (zoas)- they have whats called a "foot" that they attach with and reproduce with. Mushrooms n other softies also "split in half" and make others. But never really witnessed too many "splitting" zoas.

Lps- too wide range to explain lol but ill try a lil lol. Favias, acans, chalices, etc. they "encrust" to ur rock work. Theyre skeleton grows into the pores of ur rock. Euphyllia dont attach. Fungia (plate coral) can pick themselves up n move so it really depends which lps

So with zoas, when their "foot" attaches to the rock work, are you still able to move them, or do they become permanent? Also, how do trumpet corals spread?

when they attach they are there permanently unless you cut them off. trumpet corals will grow a second mouth then split. as long as all the parameters of the water is good.
