how do i attach a single zoa polyp?

my boss let me have a single polyp that broke off the colony, its a white with bright pink center. never seen any zoas that are white, and cant say its bleached because the center is pink.

well its been tumbling in my tank for 2 weeks, hair algae actualy holds it from floating away and yet keeps it from attaching to anything. well i pulled the hair algae off it and burried the base into some sand hopeing it will attach and i can superglue it to something.

is there a faster or easyer way to have it attach?

I've had luck actually supergluing singular polyps with nothing attached before. If thats not an option for you for one reason or another, you could wedge it between two small rocks (or larger rocks, if you have critters/fish that will disturb it). Another option is to wedge it into a hole in a rock.

Just use some superglue gel and you should be fine. They may still sometimes release after a few days, but I'd say that over 98% of those I superglue gel (when gluing to the base of the zoa and not a spacer rock), stick with no issues. Dab it dry before pressing it into the glue and let it sit for a minute or so, then drop it in the tank.

Agree with the comments above and I'll add that you may want to consider putting it in a low flow area for a few days so that you know it has glued on there correctly.

When gluing single polyps and the glue is going to touch the flesh. I dry off the zoa and the whatever your goign to glue it too. And then put a drop of glue on the plug/disc/rubble and then as soon as I put the polyp on it I like to dip it in some tank water in a bowl. It will "flash cure" the glue and then I let it set up a bit before putting it back in the tank. Seem to get better results when dipping then if I dont.

I agree with what CoralNutz said. You want to minimize the time the wet glue is in contact with the polyp and get it in water as soon as possible because super glue generates a little heat when it is curing. The water flash-curing will minimize any damage this causes to the zoathid.

thanks, ill get a picture of it, i have never seen any white zoes and i cant say its bleached because it has pink.
