How do I clean Jebao Wavemakers?

I have a pair of Jebao wp25 and a wp10 in my two tanks. the wp10 is really getting covered in algae and could use a good cleaning. Is there anyway of cleaning them easily or just pull them and use a toothbrush and tank water?

whenever i clean my powerheads (not jebao but i don't see why it would make a difference), i usually pull them out and give them a good soak in vinegar for a while to loosen up the crud and calcium deposits, then scrub vigorously with a toothbrush under running water to get rid of any of the leftover gunk.

I have the jebao pumps and I just remove them from the holder in the tank, drop them in a bucket with a vinegar / water mix and let them set for awhile. You can unhook them from the controller if you want, but I just let them run in the bucket. Then a quick brushing to remove the remaining debris and into a fresh RODI rinse and back in the tank.

Vinegar does not hurt anything in the tank? Sorry, I am new to this. Will I need to de-clor after this?

Wipe them down before putting them back in the tank, and/or a quick rinse in RO/DI, but residual vinegar will not cause any problems.

I do a vinegar soak every few months. In between, I just run them under water and use a toothbrush (dedicated tank toothbrush) to remove algae. Quick rinse in RODI water to finish up. Use distilled, white vinegar... it's also used for carbon dosing, so if you do get any residual in the tank, it's fine.

The front comes off, it twists if I remember correctly, counter clockwise to remove the front. Carefully remove it, clean with vinegar, put back together and return to tank. These lose power quickly when dirty and require regular cleanings to maintain speed. My only complaint with both the WP25s and WP10s.

shouldn't be an issue. the pH of most tanks is round abouts 8 or so, so any acid left over would be quickly neutralized.

hell, some people even use vinegar to up the pH of their kalk drip so they can dissolve more.

but you will want to give them a good rinse in clean water(RODI is always nice if available, if not tap would be OK too) before you put them back in the tank.

+1. Twist it and it will come off. It's not obvious and there is no instruction.

Definitely take it apart and clean the internals. Otherwise, yeah soak first. Counterclockwise twist take it apart when facing the front if I remember properly.

Mine seem to collect hair algae like crazy. I just take them out and scrub them off in the sink, scrap off the vermetid snails and give it a good shake over the sink to get any dripping water off before putting it back in the tank.

I also soak mine in white vinegar. go buy a denture toothbrush. the bristles are stiff and on one end there is bristles that fit into the slots in front. sometimes when I'm cleaning the glass I just unplug the pump and take the top off and clean it right in the tank.
