How do I fix Acrylic?

I am sure this question has been asked before; but here I go"¦"¦.

I have an acrylic sump that was given to me. One side of the sump has been cracked and siliconed together. It currently holds water; however I don't really trust it. I am going to remove the silicone and would like to correctly glue the acrylic together.

What would I use to re-glue the acrylic?
I also have a chip in one of the corners"¦it does not cause the tank to leak"¦but I want to strengthen it so that it does not cause future problems.

What would I use to fix the chip?

What glue would I use to glue acrylic baffles in?

Thanks in advance!

Once you get it nice and clean.."denature alcohol" glue some patches over the problem area preferably 1/4" thick...use weld on 3 or 4 and follow up with 16 like silicone with a bead around it...like mentioned pics would help...also if there is a crack drill a hole in to stop the crack from spreading....

Sorry! It was difficult to go out in the freezing cold garage!!!! We have had 3 days of no school due to snow. I am going to try to post these pics.

I had an overflow that broke in shipment, after cleaning it up I used some weld-on acrylic glue to put it back together. It held up perfect. Solid as it was new.

I had a similar issue when I purchase our 150. The overflow was cracked down both sides along the seam. This is how I repaired it.

I would clean the silicone off. Cut a piece of ½ square acrylic rod to fit. After cutting the square rod, do a practice run. If all is well run a bead of Weld-On 16 down the inside of the box and glue the rod in place. Hold pressure for a couple of minutes to set the glue. After this dries run a bead down both sides of the rod and top end of the rod to insure a good water tight seal. I would let it completely dry for a couple of days then do a leak test.

I have some pics if you would like to see the finished repair.

Dave-
