How do i get my zoas to spread

I was just wondering if anyone had some inside tips as to how to get zoas colonies to grow and spread. I just bought my first few and they are tiny. What could be done in terms of placement, lighting, water flow, supplementation, feeding or anything else to make them grow and spread.

Thanks

just do the regular water changes and keep the alk, pH, and calc. at the right spot. cyclopeez will help some. they should be middle to low end of the tank w/ low next to no flow.

I respectfully disagree. I had my zoas low in the tank with little flow and they did very poorly. Once I moved them up to an area with a bit more lighting and high flow they have taken off. Maybe different varieties prefer different things.

Yeah... Decent flow and lighting is desirable... However, extremes will kill you in either direction... You want decent light without melting them... And good flow without blowing them away... If your flow is too strong and the polyps aren't opening, you have a problem... You just want to make sure that they are getting all the nutrients they need and have all their trace elements as well...

ok well... in my tank the zoa's that grow the fastest are in the middle and are getting a good amount of flow since a PH wraps flow around the corner where it is.

I agree with Frank. My paly's in the middle of the tank have taken off. They get great flow and good light. I get a new polyp every other week on that colony.

And patience! Rome wasn't built in a day.

A lot depends on the zoos themselves. I have some that spread like weeds...granted they are typically less colorful and not all that eye pleasing. The real colorful ones seem to spread the slowest for me IME.
