How do I get rid of a Mantis?

I believe I have a Mantis, due to the fact that I hear clicking sounds at night, and sometimes during the day. What also leads me to believe this is that I recently introduced a Coral banded shrimp to the tank. The next morning he was gone without a trace. Along with that I added a Banggai Cardinal fish who also dissapeared 2 days later without a trace......The only thing i cant figure out is if i do have one why didnt it eat my damsels when they were in the tank from the beginning? Can anyone solve this mystery?

do you have a top on your tank? i beleive pistol shrimp also make clicking noises.

Damselfish are probably too fast for him to catch, many people keep them with their mantises safely in smaller tanks. If you want to find out if you have a mantis then you could either just try feeding it and see if it will come out of its hole to get some food or use a trap, either one you make yourself or a commercial trap, and see if you catch anything in it.
