One more question on this topic: what about the algae or dark color stuff that grows on the surface of the sand? And what about the stuff that seems to be growing right under the sand surface on the front glass of my tank? (OK, it was 2 questions!)
well ive had my tank for about a year now... it was all good for about 8 months... i got the cpr proteinskimmer/refug and i started having problems. I had a hard time keeping it clean and then it just spread into my tank. right now my tank is pretty bare. with nothing but live rock live sand and one six line wrasse that had survived. after cleaning my tank it feels like im starting over. im completeley fine with that but i want to make sure i do things right this time. I always use distilled water from safeway or somehting. (the bottle kind) i guess ill just let my tank cycle for now nad see what happens.
one thing, what types of gobies are good for sifting sand? i htink i had one before and all he did was hide, no sifting just hid until food was dropped into the tank.
