How do I lower PH?

Just started up my 30G and for the first time in this hobby I need to lower the PH.

It's at 8.6 The corals seem to be doing fine, but I'm ready to move over fish from another tank, but not till I get this PH problem resolved. All my other tanks I does Lime to keep the PH up to 8.2

I have no idea how to bring PH down??

In my opinion, the first step should be to confirm that the pH is really high. Inaccurate pH measurements seem very common. How is pH being measured?

If you're dosing lime into this tank, you might need to add some vinegar to the mix. Another issue might be high levels of photosynthesis. What is the pH in the morning, before the lights go on?

I just added the corals today, the ph meter is dead on.
It's a Milwaukee handheld.

This tank does not have lime dosing going on, because I have not needed to raise the PH yet.

It's been running empty for a few days, I used "live sand" and cured live rock from a sump to get the tank going, so there has been no inital cycle. I've been watching it twice a day waiting for a cycle but none has come so I think it's ready to go.

Well, you might be seeing electrical interference, if you're using the probe directly in the tank. Otherwise, I'd guess the CO2 is being depleted during the day.

did you calibrate the probe recently?

just add viniger carefully, it doesn't take that much, that will lower ph

Even if it is that high leave it alone it will come down on its own. Randy often runs his pH around 8.5

7.8-8.5 is OK
