how do I select a pair of onyx

A lfs has some really nice wild onyx available, I would like to get a pair. All are about 2.5". What do I look for to try and select a male and female? Please be as detail as possible as I am a newby to clownfish.

Its personal preference. I would look for as much black as possible. They are wild caught clowns, make sure you QT them, and treet for Brookynella.

Is there no way to differentiate male and females? If I just select any two, will they like to pair up, I am assuming one will change sex to became male, right?

They'll work out for dominance eventually but you can make it quicker/easier if you get one thats larger than the other. The larger one will become the female, and the small one won't try to fight back as much
