how do I silence my overflow??

I am one of those poor souls who lives in a small apartment with a reef tank. As it stands now, I can hear the sucking from my external overflow box and the gushing of water into the sump from just about everywhere in my apartment (including my bed). I have looked into several methods for quieting these down, and I was wondering if anyone had tried these before.

This link shows a DIY standpipe design. Does anyone know how much flow this blocks?

This is a design for a sump silencer, but I'm not sure it would work. Any thoughts?

Plenty of people have done the stockman stand pipe before. It works well to quiet it down. Also look for the durso set up.

No, not at all, as long as you keep the pipes the same it will have no effect (or is affect?) at all

youll get more flow with a stockman or a durso

my water level gets higher in the overflow if i take the durso out for cleaning the only tricky part is making sure your air hole is not to big
