How do I stop flushing overflow (video)

I can't seem to get the corner flow working the way it should on 75 reef ready tank. I'm using an Eheim 1262 in a 30 gallon sump and have tried for hours gating the pump back or diverting it into the refuge area to try to stop the flushing issue with the drain. I did try gating the drain but I think I should just be gating the return down. I also cut down the length on the drain pipe in the sump so that its at or just below the water level in the sump.

The setup I had had a hole in the top of the overflow. This prevents it from stating a syphon. The hole was inline with the down drain pipe. HTH

i have the same setup, put a reverse durso drain on the drain pipe if you google it their should be pics also a durso in the overflow mine is silent

Drill a hole at the top of the elbow. Start with a small hole and move your way up with different drill bits until you find the right amount of water going down. Needs air release valve that's all. I can not see the top of the pipe bur if is a durso style pipe then make the hole in the flat part of the drain.

Pic of the overflow. Its just the standard kit that comes with a Marineland tank. Should I leave the existing hole and make another one or enlarge the existing one. I did some reading today about different drains. I really just want to get this one working rather then starting over.

I agree with the hole drilling suggestion. you must let gravity move the water down the pipe instead of a siphon.
