How do ya sex emperor angels???

When they are courting, I believe it's the the male's cheeks that become dark blue. Only difference I know of.

Males are supposed to be more elongate than females. The face of males is supposed to be more blue, the females more grey.

K. Tuna is always so right - just wanted to add that as SDGuy said this intensifies during courting -not that cheek color would be your main focus with a couple of large imperators going at it in your tank!!! :eek1:


BTW, I just mean stuff like hoping they don't scare the other fish out of the tank & slosh water all over trying to rise up 10-30 feet in the water column
