Hi reefcentral!
Like the title says. How do you acclimate your new sps frags? I recently started trying to keep sps in my tank and some do ok and some get rtn a few days after it gets put in my tank.
Thanks!

Temperature only. Otherwise I don't salinity/parameter acclimate, don't use frag racks or put them on the sand or anything. They go straight to their intended spot on the rocks.

Look up an article called "Acclimating corals, how most home hobbyists should do it." It's a good read.

I don't even temperature acclimate anymore. SPS corals' temperature will cool down anyway when being pulled out of the water, even momentarily, and hit by cool air.

From bag, to dip, to rinse, then into the tank. Taking more time to dip and inspect for pests is much more beneficial than a long acclimation. Even light acclimation could be considered more important than water chemistry balancing.

I concur. even do with led lighting you have to be careful as not to fry them.
I do acclimate for salinity for 1 hour or so and they go straight to the rock they will be.

As others I just temp acclimate then stick in tank where they go.

If you have correct parameters and a stable tank should be no issue.

If you are experiencing RTN something is asque in your tank or your tank is still too young?

Temp, off frag plugs, dip, new frag plugs then into coral QT for observation. I would rather have the most expensive frag die than get a pest.

Thanks for all the response! So the way I have been doing it is float the bag in my tank for about 30 minutes, take out of bag and put in a container and fill with some of my tank water. Let sit for about 15 minutes, then into a frag rack in my tank.
My tanks has been up and running for 10 months.
