How do you feed your clown?

Hi all,

I am fresh to this and have some clown related questions:

* What should you feed your clown with? How important is variation in feed? And how much food should they get?

* How often should you feed them, once every day, multiple times each day?

* How long can the clown go without being fed? I sometimes have to travel a bit and wonder how many days I can be away without feeding them and when I need to ask friends to drop by to feed?

My clown are currently being fed with what I assume is frozen Calanus finmarchicus - they love it! (But then they seem to love everything). Unfortunately the people where I bought the clowns didn't know exactly what the food was, so I am not 100 % certain it is C. finmarchicus. They didn't tell me to vary the feed either.

I feed frozen 50/50 blend, which is blood worms and mini mysis. Occasionally Ill throw in some pellets, but my cardinal wont eat it so its not too often.

My clowns get a mix of mysis, flake, spectrum pellets fed once a day, varying from day to day.
A small amount, what they can eat in a couple minutes.
I may occasionally miss a day, but rarely, I like fat happy fish, and have a good skimmer.

Rods and spectrum pellets pellets when i get home from work and a small piece of Rods to my tank before i go to bed.

a mix of raw, frozen seafood from the grocery store. Clam, shrimp, scallop, fish, and whatever else I can get. I alternate that with formula 1 and 2 pellets every day I'm home. They could go up to a couple weeks without food, but I wouldn't let them go more than 4 or 5.

i usaly feed either frozen prime reef or mysis, usaly i mix they 2 in the container, i feed every other day, and i feed they by hand.

I feed my clownfish frozen mysis, brine, and formula 1 flakes.

I have a small cup (that looks like the tiny plastic cups that restaurants use to serve syrup) that I use to scoop up some tank water, then I cut half of the frozen pellet and place it in the cup to thaw, add a few drops of zoe to the cup, mix, and let it soak in for a few minutes. Come back, mix, and drop it into the water column.

With flakes, I do something similar. Found it important to do this, else the flakes will just float on the surface.

Once a day after I get home from work.

Maybe a week if they have to. In the wild, they don't find meals every day.

Correct me if i am wrong but they actually have a wide variety of food, thats why we could not replicate the nice big fat colorful colors of a wc clownfish.

As I mentioned, I feed mine with Calanus finmarchicus which contains a lot of red pigment (astaxanthin -- used in aquaculture to feed salmon). This supposedly helps to keep my clowns bright red.
