How do you feed your sps?

I do mind. I feel like I will be attacked because alot of the people are too quick to judge.

wow that sounds like you

cyclop-eez and my fish spot feed them poop... (sorry couldn't resist) Its frustrating sometimes with these threads and people not getting what your asking isn't it. Happens to me all the time.

You shouldn't get so bent out of shape about it. Cant we all get along???? Save up your aggressions for you co-workers or something. Those are the ones that deserve it!!!
:uzi: :hmm4: :

Just to clarify something, you asked how everyone feeds there tank. Some do it by just feeding there fish and letting the poop do the job, others actually dose there tank directly. You should be alot less harsh when people are answering the question you asked, not the one you "meant" to ask.

I feed my SPS tank about 30 minutes before the lights go off. I turn off the return pump so the water in the tank stays their and food doesn't get filtered out. The rturn pump comes back on about 2.5 hours later.

I feed a combo of cyclopeeze, daphnia and mysis. The latter 2 are more for the bangaii that inhabits the tank.

The only reason I feed at night is because its when I seem to have the best polyp extension on all of the corals, and the bangaii seems nocturnal as well.

I'm just starting to try and keep SPS alive in a prop tank (and having limited success), but from what I understand, feed rotifers and the like, turn off any skimmers/filters, leave pumps on, and magic should happen as the polyps consume the food. Being as this is my prop tank there's no fish poop in there ;)

10" - chill man!!! they were answering your question. just becaue you didn't get the answers you wanted to get all bent out of shape

i have tried cyclopeeze, brine shimp eggs and some other type stuff from brineshrimpdirect.com i'm trying to keep my system free of algae (which i have little of) so i have stopped feeding the above things. i'm thinking they are adding more to nutrients then to the corals. when i did feed i would feed maybe once per week maybe twice

I dont recall being harsh. I was just getting a little crazed because I clarified my question and noone was paying attention.

The question was what do you feed your sps,not what do your fish feed your sps....lol.... I'm sorry I couldn't resist:lolspin:

I turn off the main return pump. I have a few powerheads in the tank that I turn on for circulation and I feed a blended mix of fresh oysters and leave it for a few hours.

Listen I did not want to get into this here, but I guess I have to.

I believe fish poop does help encourage the bacteria that feed sps to grow, but if you have a really light fish this is not going to help. Plus I sometimes wonder if bacteria alone is good as the only food source for sps other then light.

I mean alot of experts agree feeding is nessacery.

I used to not believe I have to feed but now I am not sure I do. However, I figure I try something new. I used a turkey bastard and squirt it directly onto the colony.

I use Eric's coral recipe here:

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=176530

I feed at night when the lights go out. Since this food is not intended for the fish, I feed after they are tucked away. All pumps off except the return pump. Takes about 10 minutes or so. The recipe does play havoc with my skimmer and clouds the water but that is perfect for me as SPS feed on only the smallest of particles. My understanding is that most SPS will not consume cyclopeeze which I reserve mainly for the fish diet.
