how do you filter ozone out of skimmer water?

I started using ozone on a couple of tanks and I am having issues with carbon filtering the water coming out of the skimmer. for the air I drilled a couple of holes in the ASM skimmer tops and put a cup of carbon with holes in the bottom of it on top of the lid. This seems to work great. For the water outlet I put an elbow on the vertical pipe and another vertical going down into a specimen container with a bag of carbon in it. Then I put a bulkhead in the bottom of the specimen container to drain the water into the sump. On a couple of the tanks is seems to work well. On a couple I get a pretty good ozone smell out of it still. Is there a better way to strip the water of the ozone? A picture could really help.

Sorry I dont have a picture but I think you can place a bag of carbon where the skimmer effluent at should be sufficient.

Could it be that you have more O3 being pumped into the tanks in question? How are you measuring O3 input...flowmeters? How are you balancing O3 input between the different tanks?

they are all large tanks...300-400 gallon reefs and they have either Aquacontrollers or orp controllers. The ozone units are GenX ozonators. All three are cranked up almost to max output in order to get the orp up to 400.

not to get off subject, but how long does carbon last for filtering the air coming out of the skimmer? How do you know when it needs to replaced?
