You take the colony out of the water, then with a scapel take off the ones you want, and then simply just super glue them onto a rock and you're good to go.
I think you will find that folks use all sorts of different methods of fragging zoas. Removing some from the colony is one method, but other use a less invasive means by placing small rocks around the mother colony and allow them to spread.
