How do you guys mount cap. frags?

Being as they aren't the traditional twigs, how does everyone mount a monti. cap frag? Do you use frag plugs and glue/epoxy to the underside? Do you glue to the side of the plug? Or do you glue directly to the rock, again from the side or underneath? I'm trying to get a feel for how they will eventually encrust, hopefully to be sturdy too once they get bigger.

thanks for the replies, I originally had them in crevasses, unfortunately they kept getting whacked out somehow, then when I tried to wedge them in I broke a bit off the corners, so I decided to use superglue and wedge, and that seemed to work. Now I shall wait until they have become gigantic!

I have one on a bottom prop, next to a rock I hope it will go for. It is growing now quite readily.

Mike - I glued mine on the bottom part of the frag on a rubble rock and placed the rubble rock some where close to a mid to strong current to heal it self from being just frag'ed.

It seems to be doing well.

Let me know how fast our's grow since we both got'em at the same time.

Maybe in 8 months we can trade.

Some people glue them standing up, it seems like they take off the fastest and start to "whirl" alot better that way.

I mounted mine in some epoxy. Shoved one end in the epoxy then put the epoxy in a crevice. Has already encrusted over all the epoxy and has fused two rocks.(5 months in my tank)

That is what I've done with most of my caps.

I use epoxy. Both Orange and Green Monti has encrusted over the epoxy already.

Hey guys,

what's the best way to glue them if you are trying to glue them inside the water, w/out removing the rock out. Would superglue work ? I've tried those two part clay type adhesives that you mix together until they are fused, but they don't work well. I put it in the water and hold the SPS down for about 30 seconds, and when I let go, it just comes off again.

I just glue it with a glob and then place it on the rock. I do a gentle twist to get the glue in a nice spread out area and then just kind of hold there. Ocassionally it takes about 2 tries.
