How do you know if your false percs paired up?

I've got 2 false perc's in my 10 gallon nano, its a tank just for them...

anyways, the one(female) is a descent size bigger then the other, they follow each other all over the tank all day long, at night they sleep aside each other near the powerhead in the corner...

are these two paired up already, they were both bought single.. from different LFS...

if they are paired, what are other signs to look for and if possible when would they lay eggs??

sounds like they are happy together. They may have already created a pair bond or they might just be 2 juvies happily sharing their tank. I would suspect the latter in most cases like this. If she is over 2 inches it is more likely that they are actually be bonded.

Look for a lot of submissive behavior, if they are bonded you will definately see a lot of this behavior. If you haven't seen this then they are probably just hanging out together at this point. Since there is now a real heirarchy in the tank you can expect them to be on the fast-track to maturation and I would expect to see submissive behavior within the next 6 months.

whats considered submissive ???

the bigger one is about 2inchs maybe a tad bigger and the other is about an inch and a half,

the female (bigger one) does this shake sometimes near the other and they just keep swimming side by side...

When the smaller fish starts shaking back that is a good sign. There is a FAQ on clown pairing. You can find it in the FAQ thread at the top of this forum.
