I hjope this dsoesn't sound too lame...... I am trying to adjust my skimmer to work "just right." If the cup is full od water, I thought I would have to empty it out every time, and I can adjust it to fill up in a hurry by moving the out tube until I see the bubbles going over and into t he cup. Because I thought that weas tyoo much, I now have it so it only collects a little water over acouple of day. When I cleaned the cup today, I noticed the inner walls of the cup (leading from the cup to th e skimmer - not the inside of the cup itself) was grungy.

Should I have the bubbles going over the top? I saw a pic the other day of a cup that was 1/2 gunk and 1/2 dirty water......

Thx.

the skimmer is adjusted right when the bubbles are under the top rim of the neck of the skimmer. you don't want it to be clear water. you want it to collect the nasty gunk only. it may take a few days to collect all the gunk. if this is the first time you setup the skimmer being just setup i mean i may take a few days to a week before it breaks in and starts to collect anything at all. also if your tank doesn't have to much of a bio load yet it will take a few days to collect some of the gunk.

hope this helps.
