How do you QT a blue spotted jaw fish / mandarin?

My DT is clearing an ich outbreak. After DT remains fallow for 10 weeks, I plan to restock new fish *only* after they go through 6 week QT w/ Hypo. What do I do with a blue spotted jaw fish and a mandarin fish? My QT is 10 gallon with fiberglass tubes for hiding.

Can a jaw fish live w/ out 6 inches of substrate for 6 weeks?
Can a jaw fish live through hypo?
Can a Mandarin live in a 10 gallon tank? I plan to feed live mysis shrimp and frozen. Not sure how to get pods in the QT from the DT?
Can a Mandarin survive hypo treatment?

my mandy was my only fish i didn't QT. in fact, it's the only thing wet that i have added to my system that didn't go through QT.

the general consensus i seem to have to found is that when you get a mandy, you roll the dice on it.

if it is eating prepared food reliably you could try to QT it in a different tank, but they really are constant grazers. literally. around the clock. from the time they get up, to the time they go to sleep. they don't care about you, other fish, or what's on TV. just what they're eating.

also keep in mind that they do not do well with copper. if you QT tank has ever seen copper, it might be a better idea to not place them in there. they are very sensitive to it.

also, live mysid, unless very small, are going to be too large for them. try Nutramar Ova, and freshly hatched (within the first 48 hours, 24 is even better) baby brine shrimp nauplii. also frozen cyclop-eeze.

mine also sucks down live black worms, they're a freshwater critter, so they don't last long in a marine environment. minutes, if that. but they usually aren't around that long anyways.

i don't know for sure about hypo, but honestly i wouldn't be too keen to try it. they themselves have a better resistance to external parasites than most, and with their special diet and fickle feeding habits, i would say the priority is to get them fat. prophylactic treatments, in my opinion, aren't helpful and are just additional stress on an already taxed animal.

any suggestions on what to do with a blue spotted jawfish? For him I could add 6 inches of substrate while I QT him? Can he handle hypo?
