How do you guys reach the sand bed of tall tanks like the marinepand DD or others?

Im a short guy and think it would be a nightmare for me to reach the bottom for coral placement or movement or anything else inside the tank.

I have a 30" tall tank. I'm 6'4" and I have trouble reaching to the bottom. Used a step ladder and tongs that you get at the LFS.

+1 on the step ladder and tongs, I actually went cheap and got a grabber from a hardware store, its got metal on it but for the brief time its in water its ok...

Im 5'8" and worried not being able to reach the bottom even with a step ladder, if I get a tall tank I would use probably a marineland stock stand which is on the short side to help on the extra height from the tank.

You need a tank like this:

And check out that cool top mount refugium!

I just keep a ladder in my fish room. I can just barely touch the bottom without having my face in the water.

I had a local guy weld me a stand for my 400 gal. the top of the stand is level w/ the bottom of my tank. I still almost have to climb in to the water to reach the front corners. My tank is 84"x36"x30".

I have to use tongs in my 29" deep tank or things that fall or need to be moved in the middle or rear would be out of reach. I'm 6.0 and use a chair.....

My DD sits on a 42" tall stand. Even at 6'1", its impossible for me to get at the bottom so I use a step stool and am very adept with a pair of tongs.

I have a 300G Marineland, and my best tool is the mask and snorkel.

Fish look at you kinda funny, but its eazyier. Then just a good beach towel to dry off with when your done.

:)

So some of you guys are not afraid of getting your face wet from water full of corals?

I dont mind getting my hands and arms wet, but my face it makes me a little bit afraid because the tank would hace chemicals in the water column from all the corals.

Im gonna have to make a card box with the actual size of the tank and try reaching inside to see how difficult it will be

I should worry about it but I'm really bad about that and wearing gloves. Hasn't killed me yet.

I'm 5'6'' with a 30'' deep tank. The top of the tank is about 6 foot or a little better so its a step ladder, tongs, and a short sleeve shirt for this guy.

I have a 30 inch deep tank step ladder and tongs here also. Only 18inch width tho helps .those guys with a 36inch tank i feel for you

Mines 36" tall....I use a ladder, mask, and snorkel...

Don't worry about any chemicals in the water....there's wayyyyy more in a natural reef environment
