How do you replace GAC in reactor ?

For those who uses carbon reactor. How do you replace the media?

Each time I want to replace the carbon media I have to take off the whole reactor and do it out side. This does not seem very practical.

So I wanna know how other reefers are doing it ?

I thought about having the carbon in a mesh bag inside the reactor but I noticed that the water flow around the carbon bag and not whiten the bag.

I am using via aqua and two little fishes.

Isnt there some sort of a reactor that has inner cartridge that you could remove instead of removing the whole unit ?

Bulk reef reactors have a canister inside to take out but i never used them. I use avast mr5 reactors and do what you do. Take it off the tank, drain the water, dump the old carbon out and rinse the whole reactor and put new carbon in.

HI A.G It depends on what kind of reactor you are using, if you use a reactor like BRS makes then you can just take out the cartridge and replace it with new media, if you are using a reactor like TwoLittleFishies make which i also use then in that case yes you may have to take out the reactor, but once in routine it doesnt take more than 10 min for me to replace the media.

Replacing media in an reactor has never been a walk in the park for reefers. I think the only reactors that has an inner canister you mentioned about is the BRS reactors, it's a basic RO uint converted to be an media reactor.
