How do you replace GFO/Carbon Media in the reactor?

I have quick disconnects on the lines. It turns out that the ones for Eheim canister lifters work perfect for me.

What sort of problem are you having? Do you have pictures to show your particular situation?

People that T it off their return pump or manifold have a valve they can shut off for maintenance. If you're like me and have a separate utility pump, it can just be turned off, but I also valve it to control flow.

If the reactor is connected to everything in the sump then how do you replace the media without stopping the pumps etc?

Generally reactors run off of a dedicated pump, or they are plumbed into a manifold from the system's return pump. Mine is the latter and when I need to change the media I close a ball valve and remove the reactor. Otherwise just pull the power to the pump, remove the reactor for servicing.
