I have a Aqualogic 1/5 hp inline chiller which I will be hooking up to a Aquacontroller III.
It says minimum 7 gallons per minute (420gph) minimum and 15 gallons per minute (900gph) maximum flow through the chiller.
The chiller would only go on in the most extreme of conditions.
Do I have to have a pump running water through it all the time? if my chiller kicks in, it will draw water out of the sump and into the chiller, and back out into the sump, this loss of water will kick my ATO in and cause lower salinity (not too much since the total system water is about 200gallons).
Questions:
1. How does everyone run their inline chillers?
2. What pump should I use? Should I run it all the time and just turn on the chiller when needed? Seems like a waste? It needs so much GPH that I doubt I can run it inline with my other equipment that need much less gph.
thanks!
