How do you ship an anemone?

didnt know where to post this but wanted to figure out how you ship an anemone? i dont have anyone locally who has the knowledge to keep an anemone and the lfs doesnt have the lighting to support it.. not to mention they put the anemones in with fish that eat them and use tap water for their tanks. im starting to think about shipping out an anemone i have in my 28, a purple long tentacle (rescue), since i dont think ill be upgrading to a 125 for a few months. wanted this to go to a bigger tank where someoe could give it the room it needs now.

where are you located (how cold is it there). I have seen anemone ship with no water and they do fine. It sounds crazy but how big is the anemone.

But anemones are really poor shippers i would not give the advice that they are ok without water ;)

they should ship quickly priority overnight. with water.

Those types of Anemones can handle shipping with no water. I used to get tranship of them like that and ship them back again. I was not saying to ship them like that but have seen them ship with no water and have seen them ship with water too. I personally will ship them with no water or like Clownnut said with very little water. :D

zooqi - I am thinking about shipping a haddoni in a kordon bag. Would you put just enough water to cover the anemone or a bit more? less?

here you can check what Anthony Calfo says..

I agree with those types of anemone but PLT is one of those that I have seen ship with no water.

i didnt see this until today. its not cold or anything, it can be really hot though. lately it hasnt been that hot

im just thinking of this option in case i need to give it up to a better home, i dont think the 125 would be setup until may

if i were to to take it out of the aquarium do i just gently pull him out of the sand assuming hes not attached to anything else?

so after reading that link you touch the tentacles and have it retract, then take it out put him in a dry bowl for a few minutes to let it expellits water, and then put it in a bag with air and ship it? did i understand that right?

where are you located? I'd temporarily take it off your hands until you get the 125 set up

if you take it you keep, itll just be cheaper that way. itll be a while before getting the tank, ls, lr, lighting, sump, skimmer, etc.

send me a PM so we can talk about it, its about 4"+
