I have 4 stage kent system that i cannot mount permanently. I would like to only use it when I need water. I would use it connected to a water hose. When its not in use and in storage will I damage the membrane? should I pull the membrane out and store it rodi water?

No you can keep the membrane in the canister when not in use. Actually I don't think your supposed to remove it at all unless its being changed out. I keep my rodi In a small pantry closet next to my kitchen and hook it up to the sink to make water. I guess you can keep it anywhere its not in the way as long as the temps arnt to extreme

doesn't the membrane dry out when you do that?

no, there is always water in the canister. the membrane stays wet at all times
just remember to flush the unit for a few min before you use it and after your done.

I keep mine under the kitchen sink, I just make sure that all the lines go over the RO membrane, so that the water doesn't drain out and it stays wet. I usually make water twice a week, so it doesn't sit for too long.

Mine is hanging on the wall in the laundry room. I almost use it every day, so I don't store it. It's set to top off my storage tub every time I use RO water.

I have mine mounted to a piece of plywood with a handle. It's kept in the garage until I need it, about every other week. I lean it up against the house, hook it up to the garden hose, feed the blue output line through a window to my ATO tank and the black refuse water line to my garden.

Go to Home Depot and pick up two Watts 1/4" Quick-Connect valves and put them on each end of your RO. That will keep the water in the RO unit and your membrane hydrated.

Mine is mounted in the garage but (until last Sunday when I fixed it) my ASO valve kept bleeding through so I would just shut it off with a valve when I was done using it. It would sit for a week usually and sometimes up to three weeks without any problems.
