How does copper kill parasites/fish?

Hi guys!

I'm getting more and more interested in marine pathology - kind of obsessed actually. I understand how a lot of methods and medicines impact fish and parasites to cause harm and/or good. However, I can't seem to find a good source of information for exactly what copper does to our marine organisms.

HOW does it kill? In humans, among other things, copper builds up in the soft tissues of the liver and disrupts metabolic abilities to detoxify blood. What is it doing to parasites?

Also, after fish have been treated with copper they are more susceptible to secondary infections. There are many things that we do for people who are recuperating from copper toxicity - maybe some of them would help our fishy friends recover faster.

Any thoughts? If this has been discussed and I missed the thread, please point me in the right direction :) thank you!
