How does this sound?

Well, I am setting up another tank... Guess I couldn't stay away too long. Either way, I am setting up a tank for SPS only and just wanted to run through the specs to see what you guys think. Items with a (*) next to them, are items I have already purchased.

58g Oceanic RR*
Custom Tall Stand*
20g Sump (like the Elos) w/bag filter*
ASM G1X Skimmer*
Quiet One 5000 return pump*
AquaMedic Top Off System w/Kalk*
AquaMedic 36" Oceanlight w/dual 250W HQI 10K's and Dual 39W T5 Actinics*
Tunze 6000 w/single controller & magnet

60lbs of Live Rock*
40lbs of Fiji Pink Sand*

Light will be suspended above tank with the hanging kit for heat reasons. Curently, the tank is running with everything but the lights and the water temp is reading 74.2. As you can see, the only thing I am missing is the Tunze, which I plan to buy in the coming weeks. Do you think the 6000 is too much and maybe suggest a 6060?

Let me know what you think or let me know of any areas that you feel I may be in trouble. Please, let's not mention anything about BB or Sand on this thread.

Thanks,
Mike

Personally, I would stick with the Tunze 6000 because it is controllable. If you think that it is putting out more flow than you want you can always dial it back.

Thats what I was thinking. I had originally planned for the 6060 but might as well get the 6000 for the controller reasons.

Thanks!
Mike

The 6000 and the 6060 put out about the same flow IIRC.

I honestly dont think 1 6000 or 1 6060 is enough flow in that tank.

So what do you suggest? I mean, I am sure I could put 4x6200's in there and put dual Sequence Dart closed loops on it...that should be enough flow for now, right....but WAIT, what about when the corals grow in...man, I am gonna need another 4x6200's....hmmmm better start working overtime.

Mike:D

I had a 6060 in my 58 but was getting sand all piled up on one side and I didnt like how the flow was all going one way so I returned it and am planning on making a closed loop with a sequence dart on an OM so that i can get more random flow.

I use a Mag 9.5 as my return running up to an OM Squirt.

It has plenty of flow; however I am running a bare bottom tank.
