How far is too far?

Hello everyone! I am looking at getting a 120 set up and was wondering how far is too far to travel for it?

I was wondering also about hauling such a large tank and liverock and what you all think of the best way to accomplish this. I'm really torn from taking my time and piecing my setup together, but when you look at that cost, my wife starts to pack! So then i'm tempted to get an already establish setup for fractions of the cost, but concerned about being able to move such a beast. Any help would be great!

Transporting livestock can be tricky. I would get some 5 gallon buckets for the liverock, get as much water as you can from the setup and fill each 5 gal. bucket with as much rock as you can. Then fill the buckets up half way with the tank water, with the rest of the exposed rock take newspaper and soak it with saltwater and wrap the exposed pieces.

For the fish, snails and inverts, 5 gallon buckets will also work well. you can fit 4 or 5 small fish in one bucket to save room.
All the inverts and snails can also go with fish.

The corals should go into big styro foam boxes, I use bags that fit into the styro's, fill them up with tank water place corals in bag, make sure they are under water. Tie plastic bag up in a knot to hold the water in. Put the lid on the styro box.

If you are concerned about thr trip, I would buy some battery operated aerators for oxygen for the fish corals.
If the trip is going to be hours, I would get a power invertor for your car and bring some heaters with and even air pumps. Just switch the heaters around between things to keep the temps up.

Good advice from Blown 346. Also, try to save as much tank water as you can, that way it won't re-cycle as much.

And stout,
[welcome]
