How far to hang light?

I have a rimless tank that is 24x24x16 and I was wondering how far off the water I should hang my 250w sunpod? Thanks

I have mine about 8 inches from the rim of the tank.

6"-9" ideally. I have mine 6.5" and have never had any problems.
