How fast to increase calcium

Is there a safe rate to increase calcium at or does it matter? If I test my water after a change and the calcium is low can I increase it with a large single dose of calcium chloride or should I spread it over a number of days?

"Do not increase more than 25 ppm per day. Dose 1/3 to 1/2 and the next day test. Check your levels and then dose another portion."
