How goes it

Well semester (whatever inspired me to do 5 classes and work full time I have no idea) is over and I'm starting to get the tank back to better condition as it has ended. I had a large nitrate and phosphate spike partically caused from over feeding and partially from water not circulating through the refugium. Resolved the refugium issue and added a new biopellet reactor and I've gone from 100+ nitrates to testing at 0 this week. I still have some hair algae left over (80% gone I'd say and 100% cyano gone) so I haven't slowed the tumble yet. Once it is 100% gone I'll slow the tumble and hope to keep a nitrate level of 5-10. Lost most of my corals during the spike so going to start slow and add a few sps and lps.

How is everyone doing?

Doing poorly,
Got back from vacation and found that my fish sitter had forgotten to ever stop by. The ATO reservoir only holds enough water to last 3-4 days. Lost the first fish I have ever bought so it was a bad day. Not going to replace the loss because I move in two weeks. There will be a larger reservoir built after the move.

That sucks man sorry about the losses.

I use a 30g drum for my top off,it can usually go 2-3weeks. its also hooked up to my RO/DI with a float valve so it stays full unless I turn off the valve leading to it.

Keep us posted about the new build!

I am in creve Coeur also. Next time you need a tank watched let me know I would be more than happy to swing by and check on and or do necessary maintenance items. It is no fun to stress over a tank when you are away.

I wonder if that would be a worth while thing to start. A list of members and locations that would be willing to tank sit. Along with a little note system that you could review their performance for SLASH. Kind of like an angie's list for tank sitting.

I think that's a great idea. I am planning on spending about 300 bucks for new equipment before I go on my vacation in July just so I can monitor feed and watch video of it while I'm away.

We had a list on our .org site and I'm not sure how far back it is

I should have asked. Next time I will need someone in St. Charles near 94 and Harvester. I know there are a lot of members out there. 10 days till the move!

What about a sticky post that contains a list of members willing to help with some basic information like location and contact info. The list should be redone every year to keep it fresh. A post goes out every January asking who wants to be on the list. The old one is deleted and the new one posted. Just an idea.
