How high to hang T5?

So, I just got a T5 fixture and am planning out my hood. With a 30" deep tank and a total of 8 HO lamps, how high up from the water should my bulbs be?

Hey Barrett, I have the 6x54 on my 120 and they are approx 5'' from the water.

the closer the better. mine are 3'' from the top of my water on my wife's 20 tall

Or I should say I have 6 54,s "squeezed in over my 55 about 3 inches above the water,
