How Hot is to Hot?

alright.
Gotta see if i can find a good one, seen one at my LFS for $175.
will drilling holes into the enclsed canopy help with the heat issue? theres a big hole on the top and were the overflow and return is....

I usually keep mine between 78-82 degrees and I have always shot for those temps. Things perk up the most for me around 82.

80 Is TOPS. Keep your SPS tank about 75-77 I keep my ZEOvit tank at 73

My water temp fluctuate every day between 78 and 81 in the summer ..... 81 being in the middle of the day when it is really hot outside .... my SPS corals are all growing like crazy !!

I use a fan over my sump ... no chiller.

79-82 and everything is growing like crazy. Fans are definitely the best bet. I've had GREAT luck using the cheap $7 clip on fans from Wal-Mart. They don't look pretty, but they work great.

Cheers!

Thanks for all the info everyone, mine right noe is 80-82, plus you gotta think what the pacific ocean is, out by Palua and Australia what there water temp is, i know its not gonna be 73-78 degrees durin the summer.

If it means anything, the average natural reef temps are 82 degrees (something like 81.9, but close enough). When I had my corals, growth was excellent and noticeably sped up during times when there were extended periods of 80-82 degree temps.

My advice is to stay away from the anemones, though, lol.

yeh, if i was a coral,I would like 80-82D year roud damn, lol.
yeh, Nems arent my thing, they could crash your system from what ive heard.

Awesome thread. Good to see that Im not the only one running between 81 and 82. I was a bit worried since most people say go cooler. My corals do look great though and are growing nicely at this temp.
