How I mounted my Sbar Sbreeflight

When I ordered the Sbar, I was under the impression that I can easily mount it to my existing T5 fixture, per the website.

Nope, I couldn't mount it. There were th eparts, but if I mounted it to my fixture, it would face outwards and I could not face it inwards into the tank. I couldn't hang because 1- I don't want to hang and 2- no place to hang.

So it's been sitting on top of my tank. if I wasn't careful, it'd burn the plastic part of the tank, so I had it sitting on the corner at a 45 degree angle, leaning against the T5 fixture. This did not allow me to open my screen top without physically moving the Sbar off each time.

So, my amazing dad came up with some brackets! He used a block of wood, cut an angle to where I wanted it, added washers to sit firmly on the tank frame. We glued the light onto the blocks.

We also spray painted the Sbar with heat-resistant paint to match the overall black look.

I can now open the lid and work in my tank without moving my lights!!

So, I share, in case I am not the only one with this problem.
Goes without saying, ignore the salt build up, lol

I think it's a great supplement to the T5's. I've noticed my corals are growing and have more color to it since I've added it few months ago.

Necessity is the mother of invention ;)
What you have there looks simple, but well done. I don't know if I would have come up with that idea myself.....

that's what I got my dad for, he's good at coming up with ideas like this! When he showed me what he's done, I said "I could've done this.. if I had the idea.." lol
