I've had my problems. Wrong fish sent, wrong size fish, fish that died in transport, fish that died soon after arrival (within 24-48 hours). All were taken care of with the expection of the wrong sized fish and the ocassional shipping cost lost.
I think if you keep in mind that they get their fish from Quality Marine, a wholeseller, you can be better informed. This means your LFS could probably order from them as well and have the exact same quality (good or bad).
Well this is sort of true. Your LFS could order from Quality Marine but will not have the variety that LA has using QM. Your LFS will not often order high end fish because they are doing so on speculation that they will sell. And your LFS may not have the facilities that QM has for keeping fish. Oh, and by the way, the 14 day unconditional guarantee from LA and DD is not found at any LFS
Divers Den on the other hand, a division of the Foster and Smith group, is better. Although SOME do believe their quarantine is not a true quarantine and misleading. It can be as little as two weeks of observation before they sell it to you. Maybe better termed acclimated to captivity.
Divers Den and LA say to quarantine your fish as you should with any supplier
That's my honest truth from where I stand...
