Well the wife was dieing to go to Bloomington today to check out a store that she likes (fish store) Needless to say she decided to get a small Hippo Tang to add to the tank. I thought everything was fine till we started to make the 100+ mile trip home. All hell broke loose with the storms and we were driving right through it!

Needless to say we got through it fine only to come home to absolutly no power (already out for one hour according to the neighbors) !!!! Just what i wanted......dark house and trying to acclimate a ich prone fish to a tank that has no power.......

Well after waiting another hour to see if power would come back on and still aclimating the hippo i had a brainstorm!!!!

I remembered that i have a portable generator in my shop!! Well off i go with the 12 year old to get the generator, fuel, and some extension cords! Realized that with no power = no fuel at the stations!!! hmmmmm

Well we decided to siphon out of the 4 wheeler for now. Got the fuel and back home we went only to have to string out 8 drop cords thru the house to fire up 3 tanks, TV, and this laptop im on.

Its now 1:30 am ........Still no power.......fuel is getting super low....... PLEASE BRING BACK THE POWER so i can go to sleep and rest easy!!!!!

See how well we time things!!!!!!

That was a good job improvising !!!

Just leave your neighbor with enough gas to get to the station tomorrow is all.

Screw the neighbor!! lol actually its now about 4 am and still no power. Just siphoned another few gallons out of the wifeys car and im tired and gonna try to get some sleep.

Oh and im on the internet via one of the 8 cords from the generator to my laptop via wireless internet thru cingular. gotta love wireless in this situation.

ISP, Local Phone Offices, Cingular Cellular Sites all have battery backup or better back-up generators. Most telco have cabling underground and maybe some microwave transmission. Wes is lucky where he lives and where his wife works even though I feel bad for his wife. :D

I was bored yesterday as well after an intense afternoon early evening and fired up the wireless modem to see how the network faired. Plus to see how people were doing on RC. Hope everyone is doing well.

My DSL is still down at the house probably trootie is down as well if he doesn't use charter. Fricken HTC. :thumbdown

Ya, Steve I can't stand hooterville even though I have DSL thru them. They are such a monopoly. I like Columbia and wish someone better would buy them maybe AT&T at least they would realize there is competition and drop their prices. I couldn't get over them owning the area rights to DirectTV. Soon as Charter has VoIP in my area I might switch. It could be worse and we could have GTE/Verizon rural where they really don't care and are so under man'd. replied to your PM let me know if you need help
