Very true. And very funny posts. This is definitely not a hobby for someone with hoarding tendencies.
But for a while, during the build process, I think we all at one point look at the mess we made and think "What have I done!?" I don't know how you can avoid it.
Right now, my garage is full of rock chunks, foam pieces, tools, and all kinds of stuff. Its starting to drive me nuts. But its a means to an end. Soon enough, it will be all cleaned up and then the plumbing can begin.

Rygar, I do not have a thread yet but will soon. The tank is really nice and well built. It was made by Custom Aquariums out of Wisconsin. 30x30x24 @ 115 gallons including sump.

Mine took about a week and a half, bought a unpainted stand, painted it, tore the carpet out of my dining room and replaced with diy click lock hardwood flooring, got the tank drilled at a LFS, one big order from marine depot and multiple trips to the hardware store and I was done.

Crazy to see a build take less than 2 weeks while others take years. Would be awesome if you guys could post a quick picture of your finished display. Interested to see if the finished product reflects the time it took.

Also what I've seen is some people have the ability to picture something and plan it perfectly. Others on the other hand, myself included, lack that quality. I can picture how its going to turn out, but getting there is a different story. So we simple minded folks just kind of go along and figure things out as we go. Nothing wrong with that.

I've found that drawing a picture on paper is really helpful. I've avoided mistakes and discovered ideas just from using a pencil and paper. Also, I like to break it down and only diagram one thing-plumbing, electrical, etc.- at a time.

I have a few pics of my original build, however pretty much crashed due to AEFW from not being a diligent "dipper" so it had been offline for a while. Just started back up? adding corals in May, as well as adding a calcium Rx.
