How long do Cleaner Shrimp live?

I had one for about 2 years - now I don't see him anymore. Is 2 years about as long as they live? Nobody else in the tank is having any problems so I assume he is gone from old age. Also, I have not added any new fish in the past year, so I doubt he was eaten.

hi mate roughly 3 years is what they live upto 4 if your lucky as long as iodine & nitrate are kept in check......

I bought mine over a year ago and he's still alive. And he was NO baby when I got him. He's gotten a BIT larger since then. But he's a very large cleaner shrimp now. I don't know how long he's got, but I'll miss him when he's gone.

If I can get another year out of him before he goes, so he can live in my larger upgrade for awhile, I'll be happy.

I remember a thread a few months or maybe a year ago and most lived about a year some more and some less but a year was average. IIRC

I beleive that 4-5 is an average. I find it ammusing when people are always looking for "large" cleaners, or "large" pepermints to eat their aiptasia. The large ones are over half dead :p, while the smaller/younger ones still have plenty of life and are usually a little hungrier

Yeah, wish I got a small one but I was still new to the trade so didn't know how tiny you could actually get them. He's probably 2 yr. old. But he still grew a little. So how long do you think once they REACH full grown do they have?
