How long for Gigantea to split?

I bought a blue Gigantea from Dr. Mac a little over a week ago. It came with two heads/mouths but is still attached at the base. Anybody have any idea on how long this process takes?

I know with previous experience with BTA's, it happens rather quickly. This Gigantea though looks like its been this way for a while and wont actually complete the split. Both mouths are in the center so it seems to have happened a while ago.

Anybody have any idea?

I will make it deflate so I can get pics of the base, will post shortly. These are some actinic shots from a few days ago.

Nice looking Gig.

I personally have never read anything about Gigs splitting --- so I doubt that there is much info out there about this.

If it has two mouths then it is not splitting (i.e. fission), it is budding. A different process. S. gigantea and S. mertensi are both known to reproduce through budding (Reef Aquarium Vol 2). With carpets, the buds blend in so well its hard to tell where they start and the original ends. There is a whole separate anemone in there somewhere.

From what I hear, could take months
