Most likely the same...it's not much different from just using dry rock. The point is to add Amonia up to 2ppm so however long that takes to get Amonia up roughly gives you an estimate of how long it will take...Although Nitrite takes 2-3x longer to go up and back down to 0. Live rock will help though so don't think that it's not. Everything helps when it comes to cycling. When did you first start cycling?

Every tank is different. All you can do is test your water and see where your levels are. But in a rough estimate I'd say about 3 to 4 weeks.

Don't waste your money on live sand. All you will do is pay double and get no benefit. The lR will save you about 2 weeks on the cycle if it's good lr.

:fish1: When I set up my tanks using high quality live rock from Tampa Bay, and freshly collected sand from the reefs off the Florida Keys, I never had a cycle, or it was so fast or small I never noticed it. Never had any die off on the rock which was full of life. I did wait 6 months before adding fish though as the water was to cold to go diving to collect them. :fish1:

Do you have a build thread on your collected tank?? I'd love to see pictures of it.

So how many of those nasty reef lions do you have Or do they mainly end up in your frying pan :bum: I know they would be in mine if I was in FL.
