How long of cycle before adding LPS?

I will be setting up my 55 really soon, and I am just wondering how long I should let it cycle? I was think a month with no fish and no lights, and then add fish for another 4 weeks with very low light, after 8 weeks and all levels are good would it be okay to ad LPS? I pretty sure it will be fine, but I figure on this one I should get a couple of thoughts.

I will be having, 80lbs of liverock cycling in the tank with a sump and live rock insted of bio media.

Let me know what you think or if you need some more info.

Thanks,
Brandon

Sounds good, as long as your Ammonia & Nitrite levels are undetectable you'll be golden. LPS are very tough & make great starter corals. ~Charles~

I'm actually approaching the setup of an LPS dominated 75 gallon a little different. 2 month period to setup with rock and cleanup crew. There are 2 batches of rocks being added. The first batch cycled in a stock tank for a month before being added 2 weeks into the setup cycle.

The tank is now one month old. I am cycling the second batch of rock in a stock tank, but moving a piece every other day into the display tank. It will all be in place in a 2 week time frame.

When the tank is at least 2 months old and the parameters are stable, I plan on starting to transfer the LPS frags I already have established in another tank. If they do well I'll start adding fish to my quarantine system where they will spend 4 weeks.

So essentially I'll go 2-3 months before the LPS and 3-4 months before the fish. I decided to add fish last to give the pods a longer time to establish.

im a strong believer of letting your tank age for 6+ months before you stock any kind of LPS or SPS. Especially if your LR is uncured. Good luck!.
