How long to acclimate zoos to light?

Hello all,

I'm new here to ol' RC and I'm also new to zoos. I have a 29g tank that is 18" deep and I run a 150W MH with a 15K XM bulb that is about 3" above the tank. I just bought several zoo frags on Friday and I have had them at the bottom of the tank since then. They are all doing great and opening all the way right on the first day.

Two questions really: How long should I keep them at the bottom of the tank and are actinics really necessary for zoos to thrive? As I have none.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome.

I'd keep them at the bottom so you can put swaying LPS or SPS near the top.

Actinics aren't necessary. It just makes them look better, sometimes. They MAY take it a tiny amount of the blue hue's, but is totally not necessary. I've seen many run 12-14k MH bulbs, or have 50/50 mixed T5's.
