How long to frag mushroom?

I bought a single mushroom from the my local coral shop and Im wondering how long i should let it settle in my tank before I can frag it?

They will drop babies on their own.

yes I know but I fragged my metallic blue into 4ths and there healing quite well. I'd like to do the same to these. the mushroom was acclimated yesterday (drip) and is looking good and healthy.

Drip acclimating corals can be harmful and kill them, all you need to do is temperature acclimate and toss them in. You can frag your mushroom whenever, the thing is the frags will be small and take time to get to full size so you may end up better off with just letting it grow on its own. Unless it's a really expensive type of mushroom you'll probably find yourself a year down the line wondering what you're going to do with your 300 mushrooms.

I let my mushrooms propagate on their own, I think it's actually faster than fragging because happy mushrooms generally spread pretty fast.

To answer your question I will sometime cut them up immediately and put them into my special mushroom containment cup...

Take about a week for them to attach to rubble

Success rate probably up wards of 75%...

I try and clean out any brown jelly around the rubble every few days...

once attached to a tiny piece of rubble I then glue that to a little bit bigger pc of rubble.

I let my mushrooms play their own role, fragging may let little pieces loose in the tank and you may see mushrooms popping up everywhere
