How long to keep Seaweed in tank

I've had a One Spot Foxface in quarantine for a little over a week. He's being fed Mysis, Brine and NLS Pellets. I started clipping some seaweed in the tank for the last couple of days but he doesn't seem interested in it.

Can I just leave the seaweed in or only for short periods of time?

Smell it. If the nori has gone bad, it will smell like it's rotting. It will definitely be nasty if you leave it in uneaten for 24 hours. It should be fine for about 4 - 8 hours, though.

It might be a good idea to take it out after maybe four hours or so, before it gets ripped off the clip and ends up hiding in a spot where you can't get to it. Just try again the next day. It might take a couple weeks before he realizes the nori is food. Also, some fish just never develop a taste for it.

I agree, 4 hours is about the time it starts rotting in my tank. A trick to introduce nori to fish is to cut very small pieces and let it soak in the juices of thawing mysis or bloodworm or what ever meaty food they like. Then feed it with their regular meals. It helps if you cut back on a feeding or two before, so they are hungry. Good luck

Since your foxface is already eating pellets it'd be easier and better to feed it seaweed pellets. Give Hikari Seaweed Extreme a try.
