How long to QT?

Depends on what method you are using for Quarantine.

If you choose the method where you immediately treat the fish when you get it in your QT then he needs to stay in QT for as long as the treatment requires (several weeks for copper and up to 6 weeks with hypo).

However if you choose the method to just watch your fish closely before treating the fish then I personally recommend 4 weeks of close observation and even longer if the fish breaks out.

goodluck on your quest for a diseaseless tank!

question is too vague, there is no set rule. depends on your source for the livestock, how long you have already observed him in captivity, what your tank conditions are like, is it a reef or fo or fowlr, etc.

I acclimate to tank conditions, then give a fresh water bath for 5 minutes or more, medicated bath if you choose (i don't). that's it, unless i specifically know there is something wrong that demands individual attention. fwiw, ymmv.

What I'm trying to ask is..how long would you quarantine it for if there were no signs of sickness? Thanks.

A fish should stay in quarantine for at least one month of looking and acting perfectly healthy. You don't start the countdown until the fish is behaving normally. If it is skittish or not eating or requires treatment for some sort of disease or anything else unusual, don't start the countdown.
