How long will live rock survive out of watere

My live rock is curing in a 100 gallon tub. When I transfer it to the DT do I have to put it back in water immediately? I didn't install any acrylic rods and I'd like to put some in my rocks to sit them up off the bottom of the glass.

You'll be fine with it out of the water long enough for you to drill it and setup your mock rockscape. Just don't let it dry out.

If you are really worried about it just soak some paper towels in the tank water and put them over the rocks. It will help keep them damp

Mine survived cross-country shipping wrapped in newspaper. It can wait on your rods.
